What is a Racing Club?
The British Horseracing Authority has defined a Racing Club to be a type of shared racehorse ownership where members do not have ownership rights to the horses. It offers an affordable and accessible way to experience racehorse ownership without legal and financial commitment to owning a horse.
How much does it cost to join?
It costs only £19.99 to buy a membership for the Racing Club with Le Beau Gosse. We offer the cheapest way for people to be involved in racehorse ownership!
What silks will my horse run in?
The University Racing Club silks are the same as those seen in our logo.
What is prize money & how much will I receive?
If your horse either wins or places he will win prize money. That prize money is split between all owners, with the jockey and trainers taking a 10% cut each. The rest is split equally between everyone!
Who decides where and when my horse runs?
The trainers make the decisions regarding the horses racing plans whilst being in coordination with the Racing Club manager.
Will I be able to see my horse run at the racecourse for free?
Due to offering the cheapest method of being involved in racehorse ownership, the membership fee does not cover free tickets to the races. However, any free tickets we do receive, we will undergo a ballot and randomly draw tickets. This will be done with whoever is drawn receiving 2 tickets so they are able to take a friend. For those that are unsuccessful in the ballot, we will do our best to source cheap tickets so you are able to continue to keep your spending down! You are still able to buy tickets through the racecourse themselves if you'd prefer to do so.
How old must I be to join the Racing Club?
You must be 18 years or older to become a member.
How do I receive updates on my horse?
By signing up you will automatically be entered into a WhatsApp community chat. Updates on your horse will be made through this alongside any other communication. By selecting to receive marketing updates during checkout you will be signed up to our weekly newsletter, Only Students and Horses. These will go out once a week and you’ll receive at least one update on your horse every week.
How many times will my horse run?
On average your horse will run once every 3 weeks. However, your horse will only run if they are able to - horse welfare always comes first. As a result, it’s impossible to say how often they will be able to run.
How do I know my horse is receiving the best possible care?
Our approach to horse welfare is in line with our trainers. The horse always comes first and its welfare is of the most importance. See our About section for more.
