Le Beau Gosse's Run At Southwell!

Le Beau Gosse's Run At Southwell!

A sunny Tuesday afternoon of jumps racing saw LBG line up in the first race on the card, a handicap chase over 2m4f. With a mark of 100, and a hefty weight allowance for being a four-year-old, jockey Craig Nichol explained his plan to get him into a nice rhythm, turn in behind the leaders and see what happens. He ran really well for a long way before running out of steam as they turned into the final straight.

Craig said he took a blow pointing towards him still not being match fit. He also jumped a bit novicey, spending too much time in the air and landing in a heap on the other side, with Craig saying he was having to scrub him along after every fence. The handicapper has dropped him 5lbs for that run, and the plan looks to be to go back over hurdles to give him more confidence over his obstacles. Going up in trip should also bring out more improvement to allow him to go that stride slower.

A great day out for members who were able to have a full meal and enjoy a competitive card of racing!
